EXTERIOR
The exterior of this vintage Spartan is very original, very intact and very complete. This is the first year for the double ender, where the front and the rear of the exterior of the trailer were identical. This trailer is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine.
Frame and A-frame. Frame has surface rust and some minor pitting. Drivers side A-frame rail has be re-enforced with ¼” x 46” steel angle.
Dents, scratches and damage. The worst damage on the trailer is on the bottom wraps, which is a pretty easy fix. Otherwise, the exterior skin on this trailer has only very minor flaws.
Entry door front. Has the original aluminum entry door with rivet construction. It has the cool port hole style window. Original lock on exterior of door has been replaced, but still has the original Bargman brand lock box on the interior. Door lock functions as it should but we have no keys. Entry door has newer seals.
Entry door rear. Has the original aluminum entry door with rivet construction. It has the cool port hole style window. Has the original Bargman lock with H-20 handle on the exterior and the original interior lockbox. Lock functions as it should, but no keys. Entry door has newer seals.

Screen door rear. Has the original wood screen door also. Main wood frame is in pretty good condition, but the 1 inch trim pieces are delaminating and center slide is delaminating.
Steps. Both original steps are missing, brackets are there but are bent up.

The front marker lights have stainless steel bezels, which are in great shape. Has the original Bargman Trail light #2 tail lights with glass lenses and stainless steel bezels. Glass lenses appear to be in good condition. Has the original Bargman license plate light. Both red lens and the clear cylindrical lens are in good condition. All the original lights are working on the rear of the trailer so you have tail lights, turn signals and brake lights which all work. The 4 marker lights on the sides are not currently working.
Underbelly. This is the first year that Spartan started using an aluminum underbelly. Before that, they use an insulation type board which just did not hold up. This aluminum underbelly has a few patches but overall is in good condition.
Windows, glass and seals. Has all of the original windows and all windows are complete with hardware and screens. One screen has a hole in it but all the others are fine. The original front and rear curved plexiglass windows have minor surface scratching but otherwise are in good condition. The front and rear center windows are normally plexiglass, but in 1953 they went with safety glass. These safety glass windows are in good shape. Windows do have original seals, which should probably be replaced.
